Prediction market Polymarket has added Donald Trump Jr. to its advisory board.
President's Son Gets Into the Prediction Market Game
Donald Trump Jr., son of the President of the United States of America, has joined prediction market Polymarket's advisory board. Additionally, Trump Jr. has invested in the company through 1789 Capital, a firm where he is currently a partner.
In their news release, Polymarket mentioned that Trump Jr. adds decades of experience in strategic perspective and forward-thinking business innovation.
Trump Jr. was quoted in the release, stating that "Polymarket is the largest prediction market in the world, and the U.S. needs access to this important platform."
Recently, Polymarket completed an acquisition of QCEX, a CFTC-licensed exchange and clearinghouse, for $112 million. It also announced a partnership with X to be its "Official Prediction Market Partner."
Launched in 2020, Polymarket has exploded in growth since its founding. In the first six months of 2025, customers have already made $6 million in bets (ooops...predictions) on the platform.
Study: Fans Bombarded with Gambling Ads on NHL Broadcasts
The University of Bristol has completed a recent study related to gambling messaging during NHL hockey and NBA basketball broadcasts and the results are alarming.
The NBA broadcasts studied featured between 21 and 107 gambling messages per game, enough to raise a few eyebrows; however, the NHL numbers were even more alarming.
When averaged out over the time of an NBA game, there were 0.26 gambling-related messages per minute. That works out to one message for every four minutes.
However, the NHL numbers blew those out of the water. According to the study, NHL broadcasts featured an incredible 3.5 gambling related messages per broadcast minute.
Regarding the bombardment of betting features during NHL broadcasts, the researchers called it "an aggressive integration of gambling messaging."
Seriously, we here at SportsBoom are big fans of getting some action on the games, but this is too much. Some folks just want to watch a game with their kiddos and not be prompted to make a bet every 18 seconds.
DraftKings Launches Responsible Gambling Campaign
When I learned about DraftKings new Responsible Gaming Education Month, I certainly didn't expect this.
From the name of the campaign, you would expect some sort of advertising about setting limits and sticking to them, knowing when to stop, and recognizing problem gambling when it rears its ugly head.
That's not exactly what DraftKings is doing, although some of their tools could potentially assist with limit setting.
DraftKings is hosting a sweepstakes to get people to engage with their responsible gaming tools that they provide for players. Yep, compete to win a prize (where your odds of winning are close to zero) while learning about responsible gaming.
My Budget Builder and My Stat Sheet, tools developed for their platform, are supposed to help support responsible play by customers.
Sure, there are some good tools in their kit, such as the ability to set some limits, but do you know what "My Stat Sheet" made my buddy think when we looked at his together?
"Dang, I have a lot of money to win back."
I bet DraftKings knew he'd say something like that before the words came out of my friend's mouth.
Anyways, if you are a DraftKings customer and are willing to check out their tools, there are NFL tickets up for grabs in their sweepstakes, including a Grand Prize trip to Super Bowl LX.
