Sweet Royale - The Answer to My Post Pragmatic Play Prayers
I think all of us were shocked this past month by the rather quick exit of Pragmatic Play from the USA sweepstakes casino industry. While we don't have reliable statistics about market share for slots designers at sweeps casinos, there is little doubt that Pragmatic Play was one of the leaders, if not the actual leader, when it comes to share of slots play.
As a member of a lot of player groups on social media, we saw all the player posted replays of big slot wins, and the vast majority of videos were slot games from Pragmatic Play, such as Gates of Olympus, Sugar Rush and Sugar Rush 1000, and the many slots in the popular Big Bass series of fishing slot machines.
With Pragmatic Play's exit from USA online casinos, we were left wondering how we would replace our favorite games. Somewhat lost in the aftermath of their departure, we started trying any game that looked even remotely interesting. Incredibly, we found lots of interesting games that quickly became favorites of ours.
Iconic21, known most for their live dealer casino table games at sweepstakes casinos, had recently started producing slot machines. One of their latest releases, Sweet Royale, looked quite promising. We decided to give it a shot.
And now, just a few weeks later, the Sweet Royale slot machine has probably become our favorite game to play online.
So, without any further delay, we'd like to tell you about this great slot machine that has captivated us, along with a list of online casinos where players from the USA can play it.
Sweet Royale Slot Machine Base Game
The Sweet Royale slot game, brought to you by trusted game designer Iconic21, is a tumbling reels slot machine played on a five row, six column grid. Winning combinations are triggered when you have either eight or more of the same symbol on the grid, or four or more in the case of scatter symbols.
When non-scatter symbol winning combinations are triggered, the winning symbols are removed and new symbols are added to the top of the reels. The reels then tumble. Any new winning combinations are paid, and the cycle repeats until there are no winning combos as the result of a tumble.
The base game has no multipliers; those are a feature of the bonus free spins round that is initiated by getting four or more scatter symbols left on the screen at the end of a base game spin.
Sweet Royale Slot Machine Free Games Feature
Alright, so you probably already see some similarities between Sweet Royale and some popular Pragmatic Play slots just from the base game, however there are even more similarities when you get to the free spins bonus.
However, in addition to the similarities, Iconic21 made a few changes when building the Sweet Royale slot machine that, in my opinion, "fix" some issues with the popular Pragmatic Play games.
Let's start with how you trigger the bonus. Whenever you have four or more scatter symbols on the reels at the end of a base game spin, the free spins bonus is initiated. The bonus begins with ten free spins awarded.
One cool thing about Sweet Royale that addresses something that always annoyed me with games like Sugar Rush and Gates of Olympus by Pragmatic Play is that, on Sweet Royale, you can get more than one scatter symbol in a column, making it easier to trigger the bonus.
With the Pragmatic Play tumbling games, if a column already had a scatter symbol in it, there was no way to get a second scatter symbol in the column, but in Sweet Royale you can get multiple scatter symbols in a column, but no more than one additional scatter in each column per tumble.
During the free games, there are two different multiplier symbols that can land on the reels. One is a multiplier that only applies to the current spin; the other type of multiplier is an accumulating multiplier that lasts for the remainder of the bonus.
After all tumbles are completed on a spin, if either of the two types of multipliers are present on the reels, those multipliers plus any previous accumulated multipliers are applied to the win for that spin.
Additionally, the bonus can be retriggered. Whenever three or more scatter symbols are present at the end of a spin during the free spins bonus, five more bonus spins are added to your feature.
More Sweet Royale Slot Machine Features
There are a few notable features of the Sweet Royale slot machine. First, there is a "Hot Play" option you can enable to double your wager and have three times the probability of hitting a bonus on your spin.
Additionally, some, but not all, operators have the "Buy a Bonus" feature enabled. This allows you to pay 100x your base game bet and go straight to the free spins bonus.
Finally, this game has a super return-to-player (RTP) theoretical payback percentage. We have seen it as high as 96.24% at some sweepstakes casinos, although there appears to be some operator discretion. We have also seen the game offered at 94.15%. Final Thoughts – Sweet Royale Slot Machine
If you’re like me, Pragmatic Play’s exit from the USA market was a big blow. In my case it was huge, because my two favorite games, Sugar Rush 1000 and Gates of Olympus, were designed by them.
However, the discovery of the Sweet Royale slot machine definitely brightened my day. Not only does it have some similarities to Gates of Olympus, but in many ways it is a great improvement.
