4 Pots Riches Slot Machine - The Latest in Playson's Series
The 4 Pots Riches slot machine is the newest release in a series of popular slots from one of the leading game designers in the online casino industry, Playson. It builds on the existing leprechaun theme found in the two previous 3 Pots Riches slot games, but adds some new twists to the main hold and win bonus feature.
The original version in the series, 3 Pots Riches, was a three row, five column slot with a three pot (surprise) hold and win feature and a free spins bonus. The second version in the series is essentially the same game, except it is played on a larger four row, five column grid.
Both of the 3 Pots games have been wildly popular with players, including yours truly, but Playson really took things up a level when they made their latest version, 4 Pots Riches.
In one major way, Playson actually simplified the game. They eliminated the free spins bonus feature and now there is just one bonus feature in the game, the hold and win.
Yet, even though they simplified things a bit by eliminating a feature, they really ramped up the excitement in the hold and win bonus by adding a new fourth pot...a "Super" pot that expands the grid and offers more winning potential.

4 Pots Riches Slot Machine Base Game
The base game of the 4 Pots Riches slot machine is played on a standing three row, five reel (column) grid and has twenty-five paylines. There are eight regular base game symbols: J, Q, K, A, and four picture symbols that pay more for winning combinations.
There are also some special symbols that can appear during the base game. There is a wild leprechaun symbol that can appear in stacks that cover all or part of a reel. Additionally, there are four clover symbols that can randomly unlock a hold and spin bonus. Those clovers come in the colors purple, blue, red, and white. (Additionally, there are clover symbols with prize values instead of colors.) The white clover is the one capable of opening the holy grail bonus, the "Super" bonus.
All wins are paid from left to right during the base game. The clover symbols have no value in the base game, other than their ability to trigger the bonus.
Also, although unlikely, you may also trigger the bonus if you get a combination of six or more coin prize or colored clover symbols during a base game spin.
4 Pots Riches Slot Machine Hold & Win Bonuses
The base game of 4 Pots Riches does occasionally generate some nice wins when you stack up the wilds on multiple reels, but the real money in this game is concentrated in the hold and win bonus features available.
There are two different hold and win bonuses that can be triggered: a standard hold and win bonus played on the regular three row, five reel (column) grid with fifteen available slots, or the "super" hold and win bonus played on an expanded five row, five reel (column) grid with twenty-five available slots.
When playing the standard hold and win bonus, the top prize is the Grand Jackpot for filling in all fifteen slots with prizes. The Grand Jackpot pays 3,000x your base game bet.
However, when the super hold and win bonus is activated, the top prize is the Super Jackpot for filling in all twenty-five slots with prizes. The Super Jackpot pays an incredible 10,000x your base game bet.
Now let's dive into those two different hold and win bonuses so you know how each one works.
Standard 4 Pots Riches Hold & Win Bonus
During the base game, any purple, blue, or red coin may activate the standard hold and win bonus randomly. This bonus can also be achieved by landing a combination of six or more clover or coin prize symbols, although that is extremely rare.
All prizes that activated the bonus are held. If the bonus is activated with less than six clover and/or coin prize symbols, the game will add additional prize symbols to the reels to bring you up to six.
From this point, you proceed to the hold and win bonus with three spins. Every spin that results in at least one new prize added will reset your counter to three spins. The bonus ends when you either exhaust all your spins or win the Grand Jackpot by completely filling all fifteen spots on your grid.
Those colorful clovers have some special features you need to know about:
- Red clovers ("Mystery") award you a big prize. It is either the Mini, Minor, or Major Jackpot, or a high-value prize of 20x, 25x, 40x, 50x, or 75x your base game bet.
- Blue clovers ("Collect") will collect every prize value in your grid and replace the value of the blue clover with that total amount.
- Purple clovers ("Multi") will select three unoccupied spaces on your grid and assign a multiplier for any prize that ultimately lands there. One of the multipliers will be 2x, one will be 3x, and one will be 5x.
There's also another symbols that can land, the Golden Pot. If you land one of these during your hold and spin bonus, it will transform into one of the three types of clovers: red, blue, or purple.
Super 4 Pots Riches Hold & Win Bonus
The Super Hold & Win Bonus is the grail of the 4 Pots Riches slot machine. For the most part, the Super version of the hold and win bonus feature works like the standard hold and win bonus, but there are a handful of key changes that really level up the winning potential:
- The "Super" version of the bonus is played on an expanded five row, five column grid with 25 total slots you can fill, instead of the standard feature's 15 slot grid.
- If you fill your entire grid, you get an upgraded jackpot award. While the standard version's top award is the 3,000x bet "Grand" jackpot, the top award on the "Super" version of the bonus is the 10,000x "Super" jackpot.
- The "Super" jackpot symbol that triggers this special bonus is replaced by a high prize value only. It becomes a prize equal to 7x, 8x, 9x, or 10x your bet.
- The bonus will start with AT LEAST one clover color activated (purple, blue, or red), but it seems even more common for these "Super" bonuses to start with multiple clover colors active.
Other than the differences enumerated above, the bonus proceeds just like the standard version of the hold and win bonus.
