WWE Brands and Shows

The WWE has 3 main brands in its lineup of shows, namely Raw, SmackDown, and NXT, and each one of them has its own roster, story lines, and weekly shows. Check them out here:

  • Raw: The red brand in the WWE is their biggest show, which is three hours on a Monday night, and it features many of the best in the game, with heroes that we all grew up watching.
  • SmackDown: The show airs on Fridays, and it is a two-hour program that has a separate roster with some creative storytelling. It is the blue brand under the WWE.
  • NXT: The NXT brand is fairly new on the scene, and it is a development brand from the WWE, as it largely focuses on rising talent, and it has its own specials and titles compared to Raw and SmackDown.

WWE Premium Live Events (PPVs)

The WWE has some amazing premium events that are live and draw huge crowds, as well as massive TV audiences.

  • WrestleMania: The grandest of all stages, and it is a two-night show that is jam-packed with title matches, celebrity appearances, and plenty of drama. These nights gave me goosebumps as a kid, and it still does to this day.
  • Royal Rumble: The Royal Rumble has 30 fighters battling in an over-the-top-rope battle that can get you a ticket to a WrestleMania title opportunity. It is one of the best nights in the WWE Calendar for all WWE fans.
  • SummerSlam: SummerSlam is one of WWE’s summer blockbuster shows, and it is generally showcased in huge stadiums, which brings big crowds because of the massive roster on show.
  • Survivor Series: The Survivor Series now features WarGames matches and some huge inter-brand clashes between Raw and SmackDown that add an extra layer of drama and intensity.

There are also some other shows like Money in the Bank and the Elimination Chamber to look forward to in the wrestling calendar, so the fighting is always packed with action and drama.

WWE Titles and Champions (High-Level)

The championships are what fuel most storylines in the WWE, and there are plenty of rivalries and characters to keep things interesting.

  • World Titles: The World Heavyweight titles have always been the best in the game, and they have the undisputed WWE Championship and the World Heavyweight Championship. It has gone through some phases, but nowadays it is the biggest drawcard.
  • Women’s Championships: This is the women’s division, and there are titles on both Raw and SmackDown, and some fans have heated debates as to who is the best, as they are always comparing them to each other.
  • Tag Team Titles: WWE has titles for both men’s and women’s tag teams and sometimes a mix of both, so it is really interesting for fans to see that crossover.
  • NXT Titles: They have the NXT Championship title, the NXT Women’s Championship, and more for the development side.

WWE Legends and Current Superstars

WWE has a long history of greatest-ever stars that graced the stage. Some of the best are:

  • Hulk Hogan: Hogan was one of the biggest stars in the 1980s, and his name is remembered to this day as his “Hulkamania” era pushed wrestling into the mainstream culture.

“Stone Cold” Steve Austin: “Stone Cold” was a mean entertainer who bashed beers on his head and wrote his name into WWE history in their prime with a huge fan base.

  • The Rock: The Rock had a catch phrase, which was “Can you smell what the Rock is cooking?”, and he was the face of wrestling for a long period before going on to become a global movie star in Hollywood.
  • The Undertaker: The Undertaker was one of the longest-serving stars, and a two-decade undefeated run on WrestleMania made the Undertaker one of the greatest to ever do it.
  • John Cena: Cena was a fan favourite and a 16-time world champion and coined the ever-so-common phrase, “You can’t See Me.”

Modern Stars

The stars of today are a mix of old heroes with some breakout NXT graduates, with celebrities that do crossovers to ensure the WWE is still trending and getting millions of viewers worldwide.

WWE Interviews and Behind-the-Scenes

Hearing from the stars directly is the best source, and SportsBoom delivers exclusive interviews with WWE stars that are active on the roster, some legends of the game, referees, producers, and more! This helps WWE fans understand the humans behind the stars of the show.

The Future of WWE

The WWE has been around for decades now, and they have constantly managed to get better and innovate to create a great product that keeps getting better. If they continue to strive, they will make a mark on the modern era.

  • Streaming and Media Evolution: Some of the major streaming partnerships have since replaced the standalone WWE network in most regions, so Raw, SmackDown, and other shows can be watched by even bigger audiences. These streaming shows have changed the way fans can watch their favourite stars.
  • New Audiences and Crossovers: The celebrity appearances, influences, and other athletes from different combat sports are a hit, and it is growing the show with the younger audience. The crossover with MMA and WWE is really interesting, especially because it unites the two sports and fan groups.
  • Next-Gen Talent Pipeline: WWE has the Performance Center and the NXT entities to ensure that the talent production line continues to flow. Currently, the NXT pipeline looks really strong, so we are in for a treat with some great stars coming through the ranks.
