In an absolute stunner, Las Vegas casinos posted an amazing haul on the slots and the gaming tables in August.

Bucking recent downward tourism trends, Las Vegas casinos posted strong revenue growth in gaming during August 2025.

Impressive Las Vegas Gaming Revenue Haul for August

With the declining tourism numbers across Sin City, Las Vegas observers were prepared for an ugly report when the gaming win report was due to be released.

But when the numbers were released, industry leaders took a collective sigh of relief.

Both statewide and Las Vegas gaming win showed huge gains during the month of August, blowing away subpar expectations that had been building due to the recent reports about airport traffic and occupancy rates.

Statewide, gaming win posted a 5.5% rise year-over-year in August. Players lost a net $1.23 billion during the month in the Silver State.

The Las Vegas Strip, epicenter for the tourism decline, saw an incredible $679.4 million win for the month, representing a 5.5% increase year-over-year compared with August 2024.

Downtown Las Vegas casino win climbed 8.4% year-over-year in August, generating a total win of $63.3 million. Reno saw a 4.9% increase in gaming win, posting a total of $68.6 million.

Driving the huge gains statewide were super results in table games and sportsbooks. On a year-over-year basis, sportsbook win gained a whopping 68% and table games win jumped 12.6%. Fueling the big table win gain was an awesome month for Nevada casinos in the game of baccarat.

New Jersey Gaming Revenue Results Even Better

As great as the news for the industry was in Nevada, casino gaming in New Jersey posted a banner month that blew out expectations.

Statewide, New Jersey's gaming revenue ballooned by 15.7% in August when compared to the same period the previous year.

Driving the incredible numbers from the Garden State were the results from online gambling. Compared to the same period the previous year, online wagering revenue soared by 25.2%, with the vast majority coming from online slots and table game play. Total iGaming revenue across the state was a record $248.4 million.

Who was the biggest winner? All signs point to FanDuel Casino, as they led the way for the month in New Jersey, posting $57.1 million in revenue, an incredible gain of 38.2% from the same period in the previous year and over $9 million more than their haul from just the month before.

MGM's Cybersecurity Team Offered Boyd Help After Attack

Las Vegas Casinos have been under increased threat of hacking and cyberattacks for some time, the latest of which we reported a few days ago, when Boyd Gaming disclosed in filings to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) that they had a cybersecurity incident.

In that incident, an unauthorized user gained access to Boyd's internal IT system and took information about employees and a limited number of other individuals.

Upon disclosure of the incident, we now know that the chief technology officer over at MGM Resorts International reached out to Boyd Gaming to offer assistance.

MGM Resorts was the victim of a massive cyberattack in 2023, allegedly masterminded by a teenager who is currently facing charges in the incident.

Now Empty Site of Demolished Trump Plaza Up for Sale

Atlantic City's Trump Plaza hotel closed to little fanfare in 2014. It was one of several closures and shutdowns during that year in Atlantic City, as pressure from casinos in neighboring states really started to take their toll on the east coast Mecca.

The shuttered building stood abandoned for seven years, finally getting imploded in February 2021.

Now the empty, 1.87 million square foot lot is up for sale.

The Trump Plaza site is currently owned by Trump Plaza Associates, a subsidiary of Icahn Enterprises, a firm founded by billionaire investor Carl Icahn, who purchased the defunct Trump Plaza in 2016.

Interested in the property? It's listed by Philly-based commercial realtor Adam Gillespie, and there is no actual asking price in the listing for the site.

Two More Operators Get Licensing Approval in New York State

Two operators in the Las Vegas market (and many others) have gained approvals to open casinos in the Empire State, clearing hurdles in the New York casino licensing process.

Getting approval for new casinos in New York are MGM Resorts International and Genting Group.
