Players have less than two weeks left to cash out their sweeps coins at the Vivaro casino site.

Sweepstakes casino site Vivaro has announced that they are withdrawing from the US market. Players have until September 30th to redeem their sweeps coins.

ProgressPlay Launches New Sweepstakes Casino Platform

As some providers are scaling back operations in the US market, European online casino and sportsbook provider ProgressPlay isn't shying away from the opportunities available in the United States.

ProgressPlay isn't a small fish either; they have over 150 casino partners, including Hacksaw and Evolution, over 100 sportsbook partners, and over 150 platform clients.

The new product from ProgressPlay is run on a dual-currency system, precisely the type of system that is targeted by new laws in states like New Jersey, Montana and Connecticut.

Also, some game providers are pulling out of the US-facing industry, with slot design leader Pragmatic Play pulling out of all sweepstakes casinos in all states, and Playtech making their games unavailable for sweepstakes casino players in California.

Social Gaming Leadership Alliance (SGLA) asks Gov. Newsom for Veto

There's only one man standing between the California legislature's passed sweepstakes casino ban bill, AB 831, and it becoming law.

That man is Governor Gavin Newsom, a Democrat.

Assembly Bill 831, sponsored by Avelino Valencia, a member of the legislature, goes directly after sweepstakes casinos operating in the state, making both their operations and marketing illegal. After passing the California Senate, the State Assembly passed Valencia's bill by a 63-0 unanimous margin on the final day of the legislative session.

Now, a sweeps casino advocacy group, Social Gaming Leadership Alliance (SGLA) is attempting to open up a dialogue with the governor, with the hopes that they can convince him to veto AB 831.

If Newsom decides to sign the bill, it becomes law. If he decides to veto it, the brakes will be tapped temporarily. However, it is clear that there are enough votes to override a gubernatorial veto, should one occur.

Two Sweepstakes Casino Industry Advocacy Groups to Merge

There were two different, yet similar, voices advocating for sweepstakes casino industry players in state legislatures and regulatory bodies across the fifty states, but now there will be just one main organization.

According to a report from Gambling Insider, the Social & Promotional Games Association (SPGA) is being absorbed into the Social Gaming Leadership Alliance (SGLA.) The two groups will now be speaking as one unified voice as the industry seems to be defending on many fronts.

Instead of having one group mainly run by VGW, operators of Chumba Casino, Luckyland Slots, and Global Poker, and a second group backed by a number of other sweeps casino sites, now everyone will be working together to save their industry in states where they are currently under fire.
