Fanatics Sportsbook Strikes Big Deal in the State of Missouri
Things are getting interesting in the "Show Me State."
This past week, Fanatics Sportsbook announced that they have reached an agreement for a new partnership with Boyd Gaming. Boyd owns Ameristar casinos in the state's two largest metro areas, Kansas City and St. Louis. The deal will allow Fanatics to apply for a sports wagering license in the state.
Missouri is set to open their sports betting market on December 1st of this year.
The State of Missouri began accepting applications from interested sports betting operators earlier in the year and the application deadline is slated to arrive on September 12th, less than two weeks from now.
DraftKings and Circa Sports have already been awarded the two "untethered" partnerships; other interested operators will need to have a Missouri-based partner.
FanDuel applied for one of the untethered partnerships, but got shut out in a decision that surprised many observers.
FanDuel is now seeking one of the licenses that requires an in-state partner, along with Fanatics as a result of their new partnership with Boyd Gaming, Underdog, Caesar's, Bally's, BetMGM, bet365, and ESPN Bet.
Shock Report: Nevada Sportsbook Revenue Up 46% in July
In an absolute stunner among the news of declining tourism, occupancy, and airport traffic in the Las Vegas valley, Nevada sportsbooks had a shockingly good month in July 2025.
Compared to July 2024, Nevada sportsbooks took in over 46% more revenue last month in a year-over-year stunner.
Overall, online and retail sports betting operations in the state earned $37.8 million off of $419.3 million in wagers, crushing the players and winning about 9% of the handle.
Mobile wagering accounted for about 80% of the sportsbook profit in the state, and posted a 59% increase over last year's numbers.
In case you're curious, baseball betting was responsible for roughly 70% of the state's sportsbooks' haul for the month.
Maryland Warns (or Educates) Bettors on What's Legal
With the start of the NFL and NCAA football seasons, Maryland regulators are stepping up their game to warn the state's bettors about which options are legal and which ones are not.
Since November 2022, sports wagering has been legal in the State of Maryland, at least if you are betting through one of the online sportsbooks regulated by the Maryland Lottery and Gaming Control Agency (MLGCA.)
Judging by the third-party reviews of many of the licensed operations in their state, we would be likely to dispute their suggestions. However, we are going to share what they insist anyways: Maryland's licensed platforms provide consumer protections, such as guarantees that winning bets will be paid and players' withdrawals from their accounts will be completed.
Tell that to the hundreds of players that have given two of their operators average reviews of 1.2 out of 5 stars on third-party web site TrustPilot. (In case you're curious, we are referring to FanDuel and DraftKings, one of which also has a nice "F" grade from the BBB to boot.)
Maryland has eleven licensed sportsbooks and thirteen licensed fantasy sports platforms, including Bally Bet, betPARX, Caesars, DraftKings, Fanatics Sportsbook, and FanDuel.
According to regulators, any sports betting site or fantasy sports provider that is not listed on the agency's web site is operating illegally in the state.
