Zellhuber is one of the brightest talents in the lightweight division, and while he’s ranked outside the top 15, he has made a blistering start to his UFC career. A 15-3-0 record suggests he is on the right trajectory, but he’s coming off the back of two defeats on the bounce.

Green, in stark contrast, arrested a two-bout losing streak with a split decision win over Lance Gibson Junior; however, he has been around the block, and there are few things he hasn’t seen in the Octagon.

We’re excited about this clash. Our Zellhuber vs Green preview gives you the full lowdown, dissecting all the angles, and there are a raft of UFC betting insights to soak up.

Daniel Zellhuber News

Known in UFC circles as “Golden Boy”, Daniel Zellhuber is starting to make a name for himself. Okay, he may be outside of the top 15 in the rankings, but he’s been chalking up the wins in the Octagon.

Yes, he’s been on the wrong side of a couple of decisions, one of which was a split decision against Esteban Ribovics at UFC 306, but Zellhuber, who is of Mexican heritage, has many attributes.

A rangy pugilist, Zellhuber is well-rounded. He’s allied power with precision, and his win record via KO/TKO (47%) suggests he can be ruthless. Apart from a height advantage, Zellhuber is 13 years younger than Green, and he has a significantly longer reach, which could be telling.

King Green News

His official name is Bobby Ray Green, but King Green is a true warrior, and he’s often marched to the beat of his own drum. His UFC career has spanned 17 years, and naturally, there have been plenty of highs and lows.

At 39, there are few things that Green hasn’t seen, and he’s given plenty to UFC. A decision win over Gibson Junior was much-needed, given that he suffered two bruising defeats at the hands of Mauricio Ruffy and Paddy Pimblett.

Green has a decent takedown accuracy (40%), and he lands over six significant strikes per minute. If he’s going to beat Zellhuber, he will need to grapple and leave his opponent flat-footed.

Suggested Bets

If you like to bet on UFC bouts, it’s worth checking out the list of markets available at the most formidable operators. We’ve singled out a few suggested wagers that could yield some reward for the upcoming Zellhuber vs Green fight.

  1. Daniel Zellhuber to Win by TKO/KO: While Green has got experience on his side, it’s hard to see how he can combat Zellhuber’s quick hands and speed around the Octagon. At times, Green may be forced to hang on, and Zellhuber, who has clocked up seven wins via the TKO/KO method, could well extend that tally in Mexico. (41/50 with BetRivers)

  2. King Green to Win in Round 3: Green, as mentioned, is hard-headed, and he won’t mind a scrap. If he can frustrate Zellhuber or keep him at bay, then Green will grow in confidence in the contest. A victory in Round 3, therefore, isn’t beyond the realms of possibility. (13/20 with Hard Rock Bet)

  3. Daniel Zellhuber Over 0.5 Takedowns: Zellhuber has often shown he’s a classy operator, and he can transition effectively from defense into attack. His takedown defense record of 94% is extraordinary, and while he lands just shy of six significant strikes per minute, he could make most of the early running in the contest. Over 0.5 takedowns is worth bearing in mind. (39/50 with DraftKings)

Value Bets

Having given you some food for thought with our suggested wagers, it’s worth taking into account some value bets for Zellhuber vs Green. At many of the top UFC betting sites, apart from betting tips, there will also be a juicy welcome bonus ready for you to snap up to enhance your experience.

  1. Fight to Go the Distance: Despite his solid record, Zellhuber has gone the distance in all but one of his past seven fights. Green has also been pushed hard in his past few contests, and this could be a cagey clash, as both opponents try to suss each other out. The fight to go the full three rounds has some legs to it. (5/1 with BetMGM)

  2. Total Under 2.5 Rounds: Zellhuber, as we’ve seen quite explosive, and his range and volume of attacks could be too much for Green to contend with. If you like the look of the rounds market, then Under 2.5 rounds and a quick finish has some merit. (4/1 with FanDuel)

  3. King Green to Win by Decision: Sometimes, Green has had the rub of the green (excuse the pun!) during contests, and he was awarded fights when he appeared to be down and out. If this bout goes all the way, Green to win via decision is worth tapping into. (5/1 with DraftKings)

Prediction: Daniel Zellhuber to Win

From what we’ve seen from Zellhuber so far, he can reach the top in the lightweight game, and his record speaks for itself. Green, of course, will be ready to play the role of party pooper, and it could be a special night in Mexico.

While Green’s experience should count for something, his record isn’t the best, and Zellhuber, who is 13 years younger, could be too powerful for Green. Zellhuber’s big combos and speed around the Octagon could see him secure a win and bring the roof down.
