Standing out with his goal-scoring identity this season for LAFC in both MLS and the CONCACAF Champions Cup, David Martínez has become one of the names European scouts are most intensely focusing on in the United States.

His ability to use his left foot like a wand and his "signature goals" place him perfectly into the profile of the modern, highly sought-after inverted winger.

Martínez’s development is being closely monitored by La Liga sides, where technical proficiency is a priority.

It has been reported that scouts from Villarreal, Real Sociedad, and Sevilla have placed the player under scrutiny following his performances in the opening weeks of the MLS season.

While it is known that the player was previously on the shortlists of giants like Ajax and Arsenal, the current scouting traffic is heavily centered in Spain.

German clubs Borussia Mönchengladbach and Wolfsburg have also been linked in the past.

Technical Observations

The following technical details are highlighted in the scouts' notebooks for Martínez.

Standing at 1.78m, the player is renowned for his clinical curlers from outside the box. His goal in the Dallas match is the freshest evidence of his technical precision.

He creates a difference not just with his pace, but with his elite positioning. When he meets the ball, he possesses the vision to deliver key passes that break the opposition's defensive lines.

While the Premier League level might be seen as physically demanding for the player, the physical-to-tempo balance is considered ideal for the technically oriented structure of La Liga.

Club Stance and Bid Planning

LAFC management designated Martínez as an "investment project" when they transferred him in early 2024 for a record fee of $3.5 million.

The club president and general manager have signaled that while they are pleased with the player’s progression, they may approve a sale if the right offer arrives.

Currently, there is no "official bid" on LAFC’s table. However, it is being loudly discussed in transfer circles that Villarreal believes they have found the winger profile they are looking for in Martínez and has initiated a "valuation study" for the summer window.

Analytical Verdict: Potential Scenarios

Martínez’s playing style is 100% compatible with Spanish football. Clubs that develop youth like Real Sociedad or those that favor technical wingers like Villarreal would be the most suitable destinations for him.

LAFC may wish to retain the player until the end of 2026 to push his market value toward the €20 million mark. This could materialize if the player is selected for the MLS Best XI.

Past interest from Ajax and the dominance of Portuguese clubs in the South American market could push Martínez toward a surprise change in route.

Summary: Martínez is the most high-potential "finishing winger" profile set to be exported from MLS to Europe in the summer of 2026.
