Malik Tillman is emerging as one of world football’s most talked-about young stars, and Liverpool are circling with serious intent, SportsBoom can exclusively reveal.

The German-born playmaker, who represents the United States, is targeting a starring role on home soil at the upcoming World Cup and, at just 23, his stock is soaring at the perfect time.

Now shining in the Bundesliga with Bayer Leverkusen, Malik Tillman is enjoying a hugely impressive first season in Germany after sealing a move last year.

He even announced himself in style by scoring on his debut, and has since featured 21 times in the league, netting six goals across 33 appearances in all competitions.

Tillman put pen to paper on a long-term deal until 2030, but that hasn’t stopped Liverpool from plotting an ambitious summer swoop as they look to rebuild following a frustrating season in the quest to defend their Premier League crown.

Insiders believe the Reds are ready to test Leverkusen’s resolve with a blockbuster offer in the region of £60million, double the £30million figure that had previously been mooted.

Leverkusen are bracing for a busy summer as they look to keep their prized assets. Alongside Tillman, Christian Kofane is also attracting interest, with both Chelsea and Newcastle reportedly keen to lure the target man to the Premier League.

Storied Rise

A product of the famed academy at Bayern Munich, Tillman’s journey has been anything but ordinary. He cut his teeth on loan at Rangers during the 2022–23 campaign, finishing as a Scottish League Cup runner-up while gaining invaluable experience in both domestic and European competition.

He then enjoyed a trophy-laden spell at PSV Eindhoven, initially joining on loan before making the move permanent, winning the Eredivisie in both of his seasons in the Netherlands and firmly establishing himself as one of Europe’s most admired attacking talents.

Tillman has already tasted success at the highest level too, winning the Bundesliga title and lifting the UEFA Super Cup earlier in his career, silverware that underlines his winning mentality.

Versatile and elegant, he can operate as a winger, a No.10 or even as a false nine, gliding past defenders with ease and delivering with ice-cold composure in front of goal.

Capped 26 times by the United States men's national soccer team, he is expected to be a central figure for the host nation at the World Cup, a stage tailor-made for his flair and confidence.

Yet despite his rapid rise, one pattern stands out, Tillman has never spent more than a year at a club on a permanent basis.

Now, with the Premier League calling, he is being tempted to test himself at the very highest level.
