David Beckham Targets Pep Guardiola in Ambitious Inter Miami Move

Inter Miami are looking at trying to persuade Pep Guardiola to put his international ambitions on hold following the Catalan’s decision to leave Manchester City, SportsBoom can exclusively reveal.
Although SportsBoom has been told the 55-year-old would prefer to take a sabbatical before returning to the dugout, preferably in charge of England, Spain or possibly even the US, his representatives expect to receive numerous approaches this summer from clubs hoping to hire their client.
Inter Miami are expected to be among them, following Javier Mascherano’s decision to resign from one of the most high-profile positions in Major League Soccer.
Fellow Argentine Guillermo Hoyos has been placed in interim charge of the franchise, which is owned and controlled by David Beckham.
MARKETING APPEAL
However, the England legend would prefer to make a ‘name’ appointment to maintain Inter Miami’s marketing appeal, which is set to see him try and sound out Guardiola’s thoughts before finalising the search for Mascherano’s successor.
Having spent a decade in post at the Etihad, winning 20 major trophies across that spell, the Catalan’s reputation as one of the most skilled and sought-after managers in world football is now untouchable.
So, despite indicating he wants to take time away from the sport, Guardiola is set to be inundated with offers over the coming weeks.
Having spent time in the US before joining City, Inter Miami hope his love for the country might persuade him to think twice about enjoying a break before returning to the dug-out.
ATTRACTIVE
Reports suggest Guardiola’s preference is to lead England when Thomas Tuchel’s reign eventually comes to an end.
Catalonia, currently led by Gerard Lopez, could be an attractive option for Guardiola during the intervening period, particularly given their sedate schedule.
But Beckham would love to lure someone of Guardiola’s stature to the Nu Stadium to truly turbo-charge a squad containing the likes of Luis Suarez and Lionel Messi, who worked closely with Guardiola at Barcelona.
Despite acknowledging the difficulty of convincing him to alter his plans, Beckham could use an intermediary to try and sound out Guardiola and see if, at some stage, he would be minded to work in the MLS.
