Eagles Look to Keep Pace as Rams Pursue NFL Super-Team Status

The Eagles finally resolved the AJ Brown situation as SportsBoom told you they would, moving the former Pro Bowl receiver shortly after the June 1 period, where his contract terms made it more conducive, and shipping him out of the NFC.
That trade was overshadowed by the Rams' blockbuster deal for Browns pass rusher Myles Garrett on the same day, and Los Angeles’s remarkable offseason has been the talk of the NFL, but the Rams building a potential super team, with all-time-great defensive tackle Aaron Donald likely joining them at some point in the season too, isn’t going to scare off Philadelphia.
The Eagles have had the Rams number in recent years in the regular season and playoffs, often winning in fairly miraculous fashion, and getting the first seed and forcing the West Coast team to play in Philadelphia in cold weather, and perhaps snow in the playoffs and ice would be a great mitigating factor against one of the NFL’s top offenses.
More Motivation
If anything, other general managers believe the Rams' unprecedented aggression on the trade front this offseason will only bring out even more of the same resolve from Eagles general manager Howie Roseman, already considered among the most forward-thinking executives in the game.
There could be an arms race brewing between these two powers, both of whom have hoisted a Lombardi Trophy pretty recently.
“Howie’s not going to sit on his hands, I can promise you that,” said one long-time NFL personnel executive who is convinced the Eagles will add to their defensive front in a meaningful way by the trade deadline.
One GM said: “You know Howie. He wanted Garrett. He’s really tight with (Browns GM) Andrew Berry. That’s his guy… This is just going to light even more of a fire under him.”
The Eagles won’t be shy about trading future draft picks for current prime talent, and Roseman now has two 2028 first-round picks to dangle.
Editor's Insight
The Rams’ push for a stacked roster raises the stakes in the NFC, but the Eagles won’t be intimidated and are expected to respond in kind. This feels like a two-team arms race at the top, and it will only tighten the outright markets for both as the season approaches.
