New York Knicks vs Philadelphia 76ers Preview: Tips, Odds, & Prediction

The 76ers rank 13th in the NBA in points per game, averaging 116.8. However, their recent production suggests there is work to be done, as at the time of writing, they have averaged just 112.3 points per game, a figure that would place them among the lower-scoring teams in the league.

On offensive rebounds, Philadelphia is ranked eighth in the league on average, producing 12.3 per game. These numbers show they can be a dangerous threat on offense, but they are lacking in final production at certain points. 

• Tyrese Maxey (Guard) – Maxey is the best 76ers offensive weapon, averaging 30.5 points per game. This is a career-high, placing him third in the league. In addition, he’s averaging 4.4 rebounds and 6.6 assists, numbers that reflect his all-around talent. 
• Joel Embiid (Center) – When healthy, Embiid is one of the best players in the league. But those days are few and far between, as he’s featured only 21 times this season. He’s averaging way below career averages, producing 23.5 points and 7 rebounds per game. 
• Paul George (Forward) – George is in the latter stages of his career, and at 35, he’s still playing at a respectable standard. Averaging 16 points and 5.3 rebounds per game, he’s producing at a decent level when available.  

The Knicks rank seventh in the NBA and third in the Eastern Conference in points per game. Averaging 119 points per contest highlights the strength of their offense, and compared to last season, when they averaged just 114.7 points, it shows that the Knicks are an even greater threat this year.

New York has shown that, despite its strong offense, it needs to improve ball redistribution. The Knicks rank 10th in the league in offensive rebounds, averaging 27.6, and while this is a strong figure, they sit only sixth among Eastern Conference teams in that category.

• Jalen Brunson (Guard) – Although his placement is listed as ‘out’ on the injury report, there’s still a chance he could play against the 76ers. The Knicks will need him too, because he’s averaging an impressive 28.2 points and 6.1 assists per game, the highest in the franchise. 
• Karl-Anthony Towns (Center) – Towns is more or less averaging his usual career stat line for the season. He’s third in the league on rebounds, averaging 11.2 per game, in addition to averaging 21 points per game. He’s one of the best in his position in the league. 
• Mikal Bridges (Guard) – Bridges is averaging 16 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 4.3 assists per game. The numbers are higher than his career numbers, but he’s slowly improving in production in his second year with the Knicks.
