The Saints remain open to a reunion with Cam Jordan, one of the more decorated players in franchise history and a defensive lineman coming off a stellar season for the club.

New Orleans has parted ways with mainstays woven into the fabric of the team’s history in recent years, and Jordan, 37, is clearly intent on playing this season, coming off an impactful 2025.

Given his age and how many snaps he’s played, finding the right suitor in the market can be tricky; Jordan isn’t the kind of veteran who would require spring practices anyway, even if in a new system, knowing how to prepare his body for the season.

But the fact that other ageing linemen like Calais Campbell have found new homes (with Campbell returning to a franchise he has been with previously) and with the Saints being public about their desire to bring him back, it has other NFL front offices believing his best option could be back in New Orleans.

The Saints finished strong last season and seem more viable to at least be competitive this season than since former star quarterback Drew Brees started to hit the wall, and that’s another factor that could make Jordan content to return.

Clearly, there has been a disconnect between what he is seeking coming off a 10 ½ sack season, and things should come into focus around the start of training camp next month.

And at this stage of a player’s career, and this deep into the offseason, ancillary factors tend to matter.

Big Fish In That Pond

The Saints would get a boost from retaining the legend, especially given how assumed Jordan had played his last snap there.

“They’ve never been shy about spending money on name players,” as one GM put it, “and it would be tremendous PR for them, too.”

Injuries to contending teams could certainly help boost Jordan’s earning potential elsewhere, but coming off such a successful season, there is also reason to believe that what will be out there for him isn’t going to be overwhelming and finding the right fit in a place where he’s comfortable and has already mastered the defense could loom large.

A Saints reunion still feels the most logical outcome for Cam Jordan, given fit and familiarity, especially at this stage of his career. If terms align, it’s hard to see him finishing anywhere else. Could be worth a small look at the veteran sack market futures.
