Eagles’ Intentions Questioned as Trade Talks Swirl Around AJ Brown

Eagles receiver AJ Brown's potential trade is a hot topic in the NFL. Despite Philadelphia considering offers, they value his game-changing skills. General manager Howie Roseman faces a tough decision as teams are hesitant to meet the high asking price for the talented player. Brown's displeasure with the offense and team chemistry adds complexity to the situation. It remains uncertain if another team will meet the Eagles' demands for the Pro Bowl receiver.

Eagles receiver AJ Brown was clearly disgruntled last season, as Philadelphia’s passing offense regressed badly, leading many around the NFL to conclude he would be traded this offseason. And while the team has entertained conversations regarding the former Pro Bowl player, some clubs who have been in contact with the Eagles are less than convinced they actually want to move him.

The Eagles are in Super-Bowl-or-bust mode every year, and they highly value the game-changing skillset that Brown provides at his best.

Team chemistry has been in off in two of the last three seasons, with Brown one to wear his emotions on his sleeve at times, but Philadelphia won the Super Bowl in the other season (2024), and, according to league sources, that franchise has not given up on finding ways to make Brown feel better about being a part of their offense in 2026.

Tricky Position For the Eagles

It’s a tricky spot for Eagles general manager Howie Roseman, who, in the estimation of rival executives, wants to honor Brown’s wishes to seek outside opportunities, all the while knowing it’s difficult to concoct scenarios in which Roseman’s team is somehow better next season without the big-play receiver.

“I don’t think Howie wants to move him,” said one general manager who has nosed around on the situation. “The price doesn’t match the player at this stage of his career.”

According to execs from multiple teams that are trying to upgrade their receiver room, it would take a first-round pick and either a second-or-third-round pick to land Brown. Or, if not a second draft pick, these execs maintain Roseman would want an emerging talent on their roster at a key position, most likely someone still on his rookie contract and thus very affordable and salary-cap friendly.

As another exec with knowledge of the discussions put it: “Howie’s not exactly a motivated seller here.”

Brown, who turns 29 in June, still managed 78 receptions and 1003 yards in 2025, despite quarterback Jalen Hurts struggling for much of the season and with the downfield passing game in decline.

Hurts was criticized for not being willing to push the ball downfield into tighter windows, Brown was clearly displeased with the state of the offense and sources said the receiver was one of several key players who was frustrated with former offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo.

It’s still very early in the offseason, but the odds of another team meeting the Eagles price seems remote for now.
