Petar Musa, the 27-year-old Croatian striker who has dominated MLS with his imposing physicality and clinical finishing, has officially reached a career-defining turning point.

After successfully transforming from a league standout into a key international target, largely due to his crucial goals for the Croatian National Team in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, the summer of 2026 is poised to be the biggest transfer window of his professional life.

The European Chase

Musa is widely expected to be a centrepiece for Croatia in this summer’s upcoming major international tournaments.

This global exposure is a primary factor driving his market value into the stratosphere. European scouts have been frequenting Toyota Stadium, noting his ability to lead the line as a traditional target man.

Italian Serie A heavyweights Atalanta and Lazio, along with several mid-table Premier League clubs searching for a reliable, physical "Number Nine," are closely monitoring his every move.

While no official "handshake" has occurred between clubs yet, reliable sources confirm that representatives have informed FC Dallas management that Musa is keen on a return to Europe’s elite competitive environment to firmly secure his spot as Croatia's constant number nine for the national team.

Dallas Holding Out for a Record Profit

Having made a record-breaking $13 million investment to lure Musa from Benfica, FC Dallas is in no rush to sell unless they can secure a significant return on investment. The club hierarchy views him not just as a player, but as a financial asset.

Dallas is expected to start negotiations in the €15M–€18 million range. However, club insiders suggest that a strong summer performance on the international stage could see that figure skyrocket to €20M–€25 million.

With a deal running until December 31, 2027, plus a club-held option, Dallas holds all the leverage at the negotiating table, allowing them to play hardball with European suitors.

In other MLS transfer news, LA Galaxy have recently turned down two Ligue 1 bids but appear ready to accept an offer from Turkish side Trabzonspor for winger Joseph Paintsil.

Record Sale or Title Push?

Dallas faces a classic "Squad Engineering" dilemma.

While Musa is undoubtedly their "Franchise Player," a concrete offer north of €15 million might be strategically impossible to refuse. Such a sale would provide the necessary funds for a complete squad overhaul.

Conversely, if the club prioritizes a deep MLS Cup run, they may fight to keep their star man, though managing the player's motivation for a European return remains a delicate task for the coaching staff.
